History: The Phoenician Ship with a Gold Anchor
Legend has it that after trading with Spain the Phoenician traders were paid
with gold for their exported goods, but when they reloaded their ship with
imported goods, they realized that the weight of imports plus the weight of
gold they earned would cause the ship to sink. The Phoenician captain came
up with an ingenious idea, where he got rid of their iron anchor, and cast a
new anchor made of pure gold from the gold they earned, and then shipped
back to Lebanon with a full load of imported goods, plus a Gold Anchor!
The ultimate efficiency!
